Edging Markers

Here is a really neat technique that I learned from one of the ladies from Circle of Crafters. Have you ever tried making straight, smooth lines around the very edge of a card or apperature? Well, if you have hands anywhere near as steady as MINE, that is NOT going to happen! :-O Enter this realllllly cool technique!

First, you will need a set (or one or two) metallic markers. It is best to start out with Brand New ones as the tips won't already be pressed on from writing.

Next, take a pair of Scissor (yes, really!) and using the Edge of one of the blades, press DOWN into the tip of the marker until you get a nice V.

Now, to use them, you just place your card in the V and slide the marker along the edge of the card....Voilá....you have the perfect edge on your card!

Here is a complete set of the markers...colors for all occassions! Have fun! (this is the technique I referred to in my last card...I added Aleene's Tack-it Over and Over on top of the marker and then glitter...the possibilites are ENDLESS!)

Tag Challenge

Well, this is my very first Blog Challenge, as well as my very first use of a Tag. A very interesting Challenge all around! I have used all Fred She Said images and papers (except for the plain dark blue cardstock on the back Nestabilities frame). I colored Emma using Prismacolor colored pencils and Baby Oil, with a bit of glitter glue on the butterfly's trail. I colored the Big Pointed Dahlia with Prisma Color Watercolor pencils. The Best Friends was done with a new "toy" from Tonertex Foils, I got in the mail today while working on the card. Very cool stuff, but now I have glitter everywhere...lol

New Cut-out Card Set now ready

I recently saw a card that I loved the concept for except that it was a square card, and I don't do square cards because of the increased postage cost to myself and my customers. So, I took a break from my project and made a 3-D set to make 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 cards with the same concept. The set is now available at Custom Creations by Carolivy. The set has 4 card fronts (2 each of the 2 different snowflakes), 6 backing papers, sentiments, 3 Tea Bags and several extra snowflakes for embellishment.


Here I have shown how I finished off 2 of the cards that I finished today.
The Tea Bag medallion on the second card is using one of the tea bag tiles from the set and my new Radiant Star fold (also posted on my web site, free)





















Here is a close-up of one of the sets of snowflakes. I discovered today that using Clear Fingernail Polish with Glitter in it, my colors didn't bleed, like happens a lot when I use most glitter glues!
